- Summary
- Smith is fascinated with bathroom graffiti, specifically its public and private dynamics in relation to negative labeling, body identification, and queerness. For this body of work, using the homophobic text he discovered in bathroom stalls as a model font, he developed an original alphabet. After generating his alphabet system, he returned to the public restroom and installed his own coded, textual reading "let's face it we're all queer," on top of the source.
