- Summary
- Project Bolo records and documents individual profiles of LGBT persons who have, in their own way, stood up for what they believed in and challenged norms and stereotypes loaded on them by the society. Being a transgender person in India is not an easy life --transgenders are, even today, ridiculed and discriminated. But Gauri Sawant in Mumbai and Lachi in Pune have stood up to every challenge. They have not only fought for their own rights, but also for the rights of other transgenders: Lachi is an outreach worker with Samapathik Trust and Gauri has started her own CBO, Sakhi Char Chowgi, which provides healthcare and even self-employment opportunities for transgenders.
