Title from spine label. Note on spine :" OR-C LIT ANON CHIN." Each volume consists of six string-bound booklets collected inside of an ornate slip case with bone clasps. Cataloger note pasted inside the slip case of volume 1 : "Variant editions : Chinese books may not be identified by the number of volumes in which it appears since this is at the mercy of the printer. This will vary both between and within editions. The method of identification is to measure the orizontal and vertical margins surrounding the main body of characters excluding the margins. In addition one must count the number of characters both vertically and horizontally. This edition would thus be cataloged : vertical dimension, 15.8 mm, 24 characters ; horizontal dimension, 9.4 mm, 11 characters. Editions of the Chin P'in Mei : 1. (This edition), black owners seal, Peiping 193?. (3 or 4 copies). 2. Chin P'in Mei, red owners seal, Peiping, 192?. Number 1 a copy of this with same dimensions (very rare : Wang Fang Yu copy). 3.
