The lid decoration has a neoclassical scene of a man and a woman standing in front of a tomb wtih the caption "Les Romains au Tomb...de Virgile." The interior of the lid depicts heterosexual petting with the caption "Louis XIV et Mlle. Lavalier." The scene concealed by the lining of the box depicts group sex behavior with the caption "Henri IV en Goguettes."
